Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Ekonomi Pembangunan undergo an initial desk evaluation by the editor to assess their suitability with the journal’s aims and scope, originality, academic quality, adherence to the author guidelines, and compliance with publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements or fall outside the journal’s scope may be rejected at this stage without being sent for external review.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are then evaluated through a double-blind peer review process. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from each other to ensure an objective and unbiased assessment. Each manuscript is sent to at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field and who assess the scientific quality, methodological rigor, novelty, contribution to development economics, and clarity of presentation.

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editor makes one of the following decisions: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. If revisions are required, authors are invited to revise their manuscript according to the reviewers’ comments and to provide a detailed response explaining how each point has been addressed. The revised manuscript may be re-evaluated by the same reviewers or by the editor. The final decision on acceptance and publication rests with the editor and the editorial board.

The average time from submission to first decision is 8 weeks, depending on the availability and responsiveness of reviewers and the extent of revisions required.
